Announcing the “I CANcer” initiative

Hawktober is launching a new initiative to help promote brain tumor awareness. The program is called “I CANcer” and seeks to showcase the many physical accomplishments of brain tumor patients and survivors.

I CANcer is being launched in conjunction with brain tumor survivor Matt Cotcher’s quest to complete the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon. Cotcher is a founder of Hawktober and currently serves as Executive Director. His marathon training is featured on the race’s website.

The campaign will officially kickoff at an event to be hosted by Luke’s Locker on January 16, 2013. Luke’s Locker is a specialty retailer that serves Austin’s fitness community.

Funds raised by the I CANcer program will benefit The LIVESTRONG Foundation. Started in 1997, LIVESTRONG  provides support to guide people through the cancer experience, bring them together to fight cancer—and work for a world in which our fight is no longer necessary.
